What are the general safety precautions?

During the handling and deployment of Flood Barriers, the following general safety precautions must always be observed:

 

  • Adhere to all instructions and local safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment, including a helmet, life jacket, safety shoes, gloves, etc.
  • Do not walk under hanging loads.
  • Ensure equipment is stable and cannot topple or fall, causing harm to individuals or damage to equipment.
  • Practice correct lifting and handling techniques.
  • Verify that lifting gear, tools, and equipment are in good working condition.
  • Utilize equipment specifically designed for the intended purpose only.
  • Do not underestimate the risks to life and health when working with water that is or may be contaminated.
  • Take precautions to prevent cutting and squeezing injuries.
  • Ensure that first aid equipment is readily available.
  • Maintain a safe distance from the Terminals.

The NoFloods Flood Barrier solution is CE (certificate of conformity) certified, demonstrating compliance with all safety and health requirements to ensure the well-being of users. Detailed handling procedures are provided in the Instruction and Maintenance Manual, which should always be easily accessible when working with Flood Barriers.

Furthermore, we strongly recommend training for all customers. This training, in conjunction with the guidelines outlined in the Instruction and Maintenance Manual, promotes safe usage and effective flood protection. The necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety procedures related to handling and deploying Flood Barriers are thoroughly explained in the manual. All staff, agents, and suppliers are familiar with and trained in these safety measures, which meet the requirements set by the Environment Agency as described in section 3.
