NoFloods Demo Tour: Combating Flooding In Italy

Flooding is a serious and costly problem in Italy, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and even putting lives at risk.

Like many other countries, Italy continues to rely on sandbags as the primary flood protection method.

However, while sandbags are widely used, they are neither the most effective nor the most cost-efficient solution, especially when compared to modern flood barriers like NoFloods.

The Growing Need for Better Flood Protection

Flash floods are particularly destructive in Italy, often overwhelming cities and critical infrastructure.

Recognizing this, various institutions across the country are now exploring more effective and modern flood protection systems.

To help Italy enhance its flood preparedness, we organized a NoFloods Demo Tour in July 2018, visiting three cities in Northern Italy: Murano, Pisa and Biella.

The purpose of these demonstrations was to showcase the effectiveness of NoFloods Barriers, which have already been successfully deployed in multiple flood-prone areas across Europe.

A key example is Alençon Hospital in France, where our barriers protected the facility from floodwaters rising from the nearby River Sarthe (see the image below)

NoFloods Demo Tour: Key Highlights

The three demonstrations received extremely positive feedback, with participants witnessing firsthand how our innovative flood barriers can combat flash flooding.

Our system is designed to adapt to various flood scenarios, offering flexible and reliable protection.

Demo in Murano

Murano, famous for its canals and proximity to Venice, faces regular flood threats.

Our demonstration highlighted how NoFloods Barriers can be quickly deployed to safeguard critical areas, outperforming traditional sandbags in both speed and efficiency.

Demo in Pisa

Italy’s diverse geography requires different flood protection strategies.

In Pisa, we showcased how NoFloods Barriers can effectively protect areas near slow-moving rivers prone to overflow.

For mild to moderate flooding over long distances, our 60 cm flood tubes are an ideal solution.

Demo in Biella

In Biella, where flash floods from the mountains pose a significant risk, we demonstrated how our 125 cm flood tubes can provide rapid and reliable protection.

These barriers help contain large volumes of fast-moving water, preventing it from overwhelming homes, businesses and infrastructure in low-lying areas.

Strong Interest in NoFloods Barriers

The demonstrations generated great interest, with attendees requesting additional product details and price quotations.

Many participants acknowledged that modern flood barriers like NoFloods offer a more effective, sustainable, and cost-efficient alternative to sandbags.

A Commitment to Protecting Italy from Flooding

We are excited about the potential to help Italy improve its flood defenses.

By replacing outdated sandbag systems with advanced flood barriers, we can better protect citizens, infrastructure, and the environment from the devastating impact of flooding.

As climate change continues to increase the frequency and severity of floods, it is more important than ever to invest in modern solutions.

NoFloods Barriers offer fast deployment, reliable protection, and a more sustainable approach to flood control—helping communities stay safe in the face of rising waters.
