Revolutionizing Bridge Repair: The Power of Water-Filled Barriers
Using temporary water-filled barriers can be a great way to create cofferdams especially when construction needs to be carried out within a body of water.
One of the many uses of this can be during the repair of bridges whose foundations are submerged in water.
In fact, just recently, our team used the NoFloods water-filled barriers to successfully create a dry work area to facilitate the repair of a bridge located in a body of water.
Here’s more about the project.
Overview of the Project
The project took us to the enchanting landscape of Tervuren, nestled in the heart of the province of Flemish Brabant, Flanders, Belgium.
Here, amidst the serene beauty of the “Park van Tervuren,” with the majestic Royal Museum for Central Africa in the background, we embarked on an inspiring mission.
The goal – to facilitate the restoration of a bridge, part of whose foundation was underwater.
The Solution? Harnessing the Power of NoFloods Water-Filled Barriers
In normal circumstances, this scenario would pose significant challenges, not to mention the substantial expenses associated with constructing and utilizing traditional cofferdams.
However, armed with our ingenious water-filled barriers, we turned these challenges into opportunities.
The first step was deploying our temporary water-filled barriers to create a cofferdam on both sides of the bridge.
Once in place, our highly skilled construction team used cutting-edge technology to efficiently pump out water from the work area.
The Result of Using the NoFloods Temporary Water-Filled Barriers
By using the NoFloods water-filled barriers, our team was able to create a dry, safe and efficient workspace that made it possible for the engineers to repair the bridge.
Throughout the several weeks of this project, our barriers proved their mettle.
They allowed heavy machinery to manoeuvre with precision while our dedicated workforce performed their craft with finesse.
But our commitment to excellence didn’t stop there!
Recognizing the project’s extended timeline, we took meticulous precautions by enveloping the barriers in a protective membrane.
Not only did this shield them from the harsh effects of UV rays, but it also acted as an impenetrable fortress against potential seepage.
As the project reached its grand finale, the success story was undeniable.
The bridge stood rejuvenated and fortified, a testament to the power of innovation and teamwork.
Here are a couple of pictures showcasing the deployment of the NoFloods water-filled barriers for effective bridge repair and maintenance.
